i want to know if it is possible to use names rather than IP addressess to define VPN end peers please with ASA?

Yes DNS names normally works.
you would manually need to define the DNS first and see if the ASA can resolve it and then use the command as shown below
isakmp identity {address | hostname | [key-id key_id_string]}
Also understand the fact that using names however is a dependency on the proper working of the DNS itself.

I have tried to use DNS names in the ASA as vpn peers but with no luck.
