6509 with dual sup 720 - IOS booting / redundancy options?

Unanswered Question

I've just installed some 6509 chassis with dual sup720. They came as hybrid and I'm going through the process of upgrading them to native.

The image I'm using is too big to fit on the bootflash. Actually the sup720 ships with 64mb flash - I cannot find any IOS version that will fit on 64mb.

Does this mean that each supervisor needs a disk0 cf card or can I boot the backup supervisor from the active disk0 cf card ?

How do I boot the backup sup from the active flash ?

Is SSO the preferred method for failover ?

Thanks in advance

Guys, think I've figured this one out. Looks like the sup720 comes by default with 64mb of onboard flash. It can handle up to 512mb with a memory upgrade. So unless you have more memory onboard you have to boot from disk0 or disk1 cf-card.

Thanks
