Syslog and CiscoWorks Question

Hi,

we are in the process of purchasing LMS 3.0. I saw a post that indicated that CiscoWorks was actually receiving Syslog messages. Is this true? Does CW act as a Syslog server or, as my understanding is, only functions as a repository for the messages from a separate Syslog server?

Thanks,

Steve

LMS for Windows ships with its own syslog server (i.e. a daemon that binds to udp/514). The Solaris version relies on the OS's syslogd to log the messages to a file from which our SyslogCollector reads.

thanks for your quick response - that's excellent news.
