just as a side note to the info Rob already provided it's a flavor of Linux Red Hat Enterprise Edition and the user interface is locked down to only some basic functions for security reasons. That's why you ssh into it.
if you get your hands on the root pwd you will get the real linux interface with no limitations, but since not many users are familiar with linux they can break the system if they change things in there. that is why it's locked down on the user interace
