Hi everyone,
Clients behind the PAT router send packets destined to CSS 1 VIP, one content rule, for example, named "websserver1".
And from the CSS's view, CSS has been receiving all packets/all connections from clients as one source IP address (Because of PAT router works with overload, PAT router's interface address).
The content rule "webserver1" configured "advanced-balance arrowpoint-cookie"
The number of connections from clients and then PATed by router are almost 7,000.
So in fact, content rule "webserver1 has been receiving almost 7,000 connections from one source IP address.
My question is how many cookie can be inserted by CSS per client.
I understand LocalDirector supports up to 3000 cookies per client.
CSS is CSS 11503 (07.50.3.03).
Your information would be appreciated.
Shinichi

the cookie is used to identify the server.
So, you have 1 cookie per server.
The CSS does not keep track what cookie was sent to the client.
So, there is no worries here.

The cookie contains the service IP, destination VIP and a hash used by the CSS to validate the cookie. The source IP address is irrelevant in cookie logic however you may want to verify that when you do a show dos that you do not see the source IP address in the list as this will cause the CSS to drop connections.
