Problem with Custom Phone Rings

Hi there,

I have an CME 4.1 with IOS 12.4.15T3. I followed the admin guide to implement custom ring tones. I tftp'ed every single file including the ringlist.xml and distinctiveringlist.xml and followed the configuration as mentioned above. Still my 7911G phones do not get any new ringtones. When debugging the TFTP events they also do not request for the ringlist.xml I also factory defaulted a phone and let it get a complete new configuration, but still no ringtones. Maybe somebody got an idea about this ?

Hi, the 7911 do request ringlist.xml only when you enter user preferences menu, ringtones precisely. Check again and you should see that.

How do you mean that ? When i go into user preferences and then select ringtones i only see the two default ringtones chirp1 and chirp2. I do not see any other options there to download the ringlist.xml ? Where can i find that then ?

What I mean, is that the tftp request is sent at the time you enter that menu. But check that you see all the tftp request correcty, like where restarting phone for example.

Ah ok. I only looked at the TFTP debug events when restarting the phone and then it is not displayed. But also in the status messages it is not displayed.

Do "term mon" to see debug output via telnet.

If still you don't see it, check your "logging" configuration.
