does it work connecting PC w/ crossover or straight cable to the inside or mgmt port of ASA?
It won't work for me either way ... Just want to eliminate using a switch for now and able to configure via ASDM and load files via FTP from PC.
ASA interfaces are in no shutdown.

ASA has auto MDI/MDX doesn't matter if you use a straight or cross over cable

Hi,
Yes, you can access ASA from your pc using crossover cable.
To do so , you need to configure these commands,
- an ip address for the interface, of course with same ip range of your pc.
- enable http access , using the command
http server enable
- specify the pc's that can manage the asa, using
http ip_address subnet interface_name
example:
http 10.1.1.0 255.255.255.0 inside

oh crop ... nothing wrong with the cable etc ...
My laptop is in a docking station and I figured out the problem.
Solution:
connect the cable from ASA to the docking station ethernet port. Don't connect to the laptop, it will not work !
sorry, my bad ! but,be curious those using with docking station ...
