3750 etherchannel

Unanswered Question

Would there be any reason why I shouldn't set up a port-channel and add only 1 interface and physically only connect 1 and not the second? That way when I do want to etherchannel the second interface all I have to do is add the interface to the port-channel.

I have this problem too.

Thanks! I was told we shouldn't do it this way but they didn't know why. I just wanted other opinions and appreciate your response.

Thanks again,

you have to pay attention when you add a new interface to the port-channel. because the port-channel shuts down an then goes up.

Thanks, that's good to know. I would've probably added it during the day but looks like I better do it after hours. I appreciate the feedback.

I would make sure I did a proper design for this, you may want to make sure the speed the duplex, tha native vlans and all the conditions required by port-channeling are met. If the link becomes production and later on you will want to change something so it can work with a new port you want to add that is going to be difficult
