Suspend a server remotely?

How would we (if possible) suspend a server remotely, i.e. without having to login to the device and issue manual commands? We'd like to set up a web page for our developers to be able to login to the page, and click a button to take a server out of service (during content upgrades, for example) and then click a button to put it back in service. We did this "way back when" with Local Directors, but somebody else put all of that together.

Thanks for any help!

Forgot to say this is for a CSS11501.

Hi,

Well not sure if this is what you need but you can suspend using the web GUI, or configure a command schedule to suspend the service at a specific time.

Also We do have a product called HSE. It uses SNMP with our content networking products and can suspend services remotely.

Also, you can can push XML documents to the CSS.

Other than these options I can not think of a way to suspend a service other than being on

the CSS.

Hope it helps!!

Thanks - we'll look at the XML option. HSE has been EOL'd, and its successor has also been EOL'd.

Did you ever get this working via xml. We have tried using xml to suspend a service and it causes our redundant CSS config to failover.

We haven't tried as of yet. Got derailed by higher priorities and have yet to get this back on the agenda.
