VPN 5.0.2 to ASA5505, duplicate MAC address

Hi guys,

I've this strange issue when a few users dial in to the ASA 5505 from VPN client 5.0.2, all get the same MAC address. Thus, when the remote user trying to use their softphone, all registered to the same phone.

The ASA is fairly new, and it comes with the base license, which includes 10 VPN users. I'm positive we don't have 10 concurrent VPN connections at any given time, but we do have about 16 users who connects to the ASA using the same pcf profile.

Could anyone also explain how the license work? what happen if we have more VPN clients than the number of license?

Thanks!

Kevin

if the concentrator is running on VRRP, it's a normal behaviour/ condition to see duplicate MAC address of the virtual interface. It is because the devices must share an identical virtual cluster IP address.
