Hi all, if I have a 1 gig link, would this be classed as 2 gig full duplex ?

Carl,
It's a 1 gigabit link; if it's full duplex, then it's still a 1 gigabit link. It's just that it's capable of transmitting and receiving at 1 Gbit simultaneously.
Best way to describe it is 1 Gbit Full Duplex.
Some providers and vendors use duplex to make something sound better - it's marketing, pure and simple. I had to tell someone in a shop once that there was no difference between one 54 Mbps wireless access point and a rival brands' 108 Mbps wireless access point - both were standard 802.11g. Guess which one cost more...
Hope this helps!
