IOS help needed 3350 switch/ router

I have a 3550 switch and a 2821 router for voice. Connected to the switch will be the 2811 router as well as phones and Call Manager. Can you someone let me know the min. s/w level I need on the switch to start the lab. Can it just be a L2 IOS and use the voice router as a router on a stick if so what level IOS - many thanks

The 3550 is a layer2/3 switch no matter what version you are running . If you run enterprise then you get advanced routing protocols and other features that the base IOS does not have. If you want to runn it as a layer 2 switch just turn off routing, "no ip routing" . That being said if the 3550 can be used to route in your network scenario a layer2/3 switch will always be faster than a router at moving packets .
