Hi,

i have a problem with ressource allocation on my ACE Modules.

I have a Active/Backup Configuration over two chassis.

I've generated a ressource-class :

resource-class std-unlimited

limit-resource all minimum 0.00 maximum unlimited

limit-resource acl-memory minimum 1.00 maximum unlimited

limit-resource buffer syslog minimum 1.00 maximum unlimited

limit-resource conc-connections minimum 1.00 maximum unlimited

limit-resource mgmt-connections minimum 1.00 maximum unlimited

limit-resource proxy-connections minimum 1.00 maximum unlimited

limit-resource rate bandwidth minimum 1.00 maximum unlimited

limit-resource rate connection minimum 1.00 maximum unlimited

limit-resource rate inspect-conn minimum 1.00 maximum unlimited

limit-resource rate syslog minimum 1.00 maximum unlimited

limit-resource regexp minimum 1.00 maximum unlimited

limit-resource sticky minimum 0.50 maximum unlimited

limit-resource xlates minimum 1.00 maximum unlimited

limit-resource rate ssl-connections minimum 1.00 maximum unlimited

limit-resource rate mgmt-traffic minimum 1.00 maximum unlimited

limit-resource rate mac-miss minimum 1.00 maximum unlimited

On the primary ACE i can attatch it to my context:

context virt-lb-1

allocate-interface vlan 51

allocate-interface vlan 3820-3821

member std-unlimited

If i try to attatch the Ressource Class on the redundant context i get the fowllowing Error:

Error: resources in use

If i try to add the resource class on a other context i can add it.

Config sync is desabled in my envoroment, so where is the Problem?

What can i do?

Sven

Do a "show resource allocation" to see what resource policies have been applied. You might be over subscribed somewhere.

your syslog buffer is probably full because you did not limit the resource per context ("limit-resource all minimum 0.00 maximum unlimited").

So, I would suggest to set a limit to the syslog buffer resource. Then clear your logging buffer. After that you will be able to add new context.

Make sure to run the latest version as the clear logging buffer wasn't able to clear the resource in early version.

My client has a similar issue - see below:

resource-class ALL_CONTEXT_RESOURCE_CLASS

limit-resource all minimum 0.00 maximum unlimited

limit-resource sticky minimum 30.00 maximum equal-to-min

resource-class CONTEXT-2_RESOURCE_CLASS

limit-resource all minimum 10.00 maximum unlimited

limit-resource sticky minimum 30.00 maximum equal-to-min

KNOW_DB2_ACE/Admin(config-context)# member CONTEXT-2_RESOURCE_CLASS

Error: resources in use

He has a basic license so I believe he can have up to 4 contexts and he has configured two and is trying to configure a third.

Can you please provide some guides as to what the syslog buffer limit should be set to?

If there is a bug open for this issue and if so what is its id.

In your response you say that in earlir versions 'clear logging buffer' doesn't work, please let me know the version in which this is fixed.

I am attaching a SHOW TECH for your info.

Rashmi
