UC500 site to site

Guys,

supposing we want to integrate ipt to two small locations with WAN using wireless.

im thinking 2 UC500 and creating some VOIP dial-peers for each to communicate with each other.

havent worked with the UC so im not sure what is offered technically and what isnt. i know its not a router but that shouldnt matter for this correct?

any ideas would be appreciated.

Marketing-wise is not a router but be reassured it will route as needed. For example you have this wireless link and you can use it connect the two cme's.

Or, into one site you can place a router only, and have the phones there controlled by the cme in the other site.

Or, you can connect via vpn over the internet, or have that just as a backup in case the wireless goes does.

You can do really as you like better with cme.

thanks for the input. the UC is now kicking in our country and it seems to be a nice system, pricing wise as well, much easier price wise for many of our small customers.

Hi,

I think the uc500 it's too expensive for very small installations (less that 16 users let's say).

Once you sum uc500 price, phones and the greedy licenses, it's not cheap by any means.

You estimate to customers, 500 euros per user, in most cases they are not willing to spend that. PBX market is very competitive, so for smaller situations we're proposing Linksys LVS now. The phones are even nicer and cheaper.

The situations gets better as you go up with number of users. Above 50 or so, using an ISR router, you can't beat CME.

Lucky now cisco has introduced decent layer 2 switches with PoE in the 2960 line and that has solved another pricing difficulty too.

I disagree - the UC500 comes with all licenses installed. Compared to a 2800 where you need to buy a phone lic for every phone.

yes,

from a pricing standpoint, the customers are reacting well. id wish that there was some scalabity to later on migrate to the Full CCM solution but then again, it was not meant for that type of market.

this is the second proposal we have sent out and from the reponses ive gotten the customers are going the UC way :)

May be we're going toward a world of cme telephony and we'll be able to tell it's being used, by the slightly stuttered moh when we're waiting for someone - btw the "popolar sip server" stuttering in serving moh is much more pronounced!
