significance of Wism

I am in the process of purchasing a 6500 and I need to understand if I need to purchase a wism and if it is relevant to my wireless network. I have 3 controllers at 3 diff sites. Each manage approx 20 access points. I plan on rolling out more controllers to my other sites and somewhere down the line expand the number of access points per site.

My question is, if I place a wism in my core switch, I will not need to purchase addiitonal controllers as I deploy wireless solution to futrue sites? From my understanding I thought best practice was to place a contoller at each site in on your wan.

Hi Musumani,

Your thought is correct :) The WISM is really just a Blade that contains 2 WLC's. This will not change your deployment model at the remote sites. It would however be great to use if you are significantly increasing the number of AP's at the main site :)

Hope this helps!
