Catalyst 3512XL unreachable

I have a 3512XL that suddenly lost connectivity. It connects upstream to a Cat3512G via fiber. The 3512G trunk is up and reporting the 3512XL via CDP, but I cannot ping it.

When I reboot the 3512XL, all port LEDs go green, the sys led flashes. finally fa0/1 goes out and the Sys & RPS leds go out. Stat, Util, Duplex, & Speed are green.

I don't have a way to remote in via the console, so can anyone recommed troubleshooting steps I can take? Or does this sound like a hardware failure?

There is another 3512XL next to this one that is up. Since they only have a console port and no AUX port, I don't think I can pass through and connect, but I'm not sure. Can someone validate this?

Thanks!

Ray

Hi:

1.) Is there a management interface configured on the 3512XL?

2.) Is the managaement interface of the 3512XL on the same subnet as the 3512G? If so, can you reach the 3512G?

3.) Assuming you are trying to telnet to the 3512XL from your desktop, have you also tried accessing the 3512XL from the 3512G?

4.) Assuming the 3512XL is just a L2 switch, do you have a static route in place?

Example:

ip default-gateway x.x.x.x

Look into this while I think of more stuff to check/do.
