CUPS Hardware

Is CUPS like CUCM in the sense that it will not install on a non-approved server, or is it like Unity which can be installed on just about anything?

I have seen the CUPS hardware matrix so I know what is officially supported but I only need this for testing so a non-MCS would be preferable.

Sadly the install will likely fail at the Harware check step

The installation next checks to see whether you have a supported hardware platform. If your server does not meet the exact hardware requirements, the installation process fails with a critical error.

Have you thought of going the VMWare route instead? This is supported for lab testing;
