ISP Migration on Cisco 877 Dialer 1

Hi

I am looking to re-configure a 877 router for ISP migration. However, I seem to have a problem doing this remotely. Currently the Cisco 877 has a static IP address assigned to the dialer1 interface. Once I change this to "ip addess negotiated", the router kicks me out and I cannot even change the username/password details to reflect the new ISP on the dialer interface.

Apparently there is a way of changing the details remotely but everytime I try it, it kicks me off and then I cannot reconnect.

Any ideas would be appreciated please.

Not sure if this is an option for you, but you can configure an external modem to accept incoming connection via the phone line and manage the router via the console connection.

This way you don't have to rely on IP connectivity.

You can even use this service in an event you lose the network connectivity to that location in the future.
