IP Phone Services - CM4.2(3)

Hi!

I'm trying to configure a URL service for the IP phones. I've configured the steps needed in what concerns CM4.2(3) and subscribed the service on the phone. When I try to access it through the phone the following message appears:"host unknown".

I have not configured any parameters for this server.

What am I doing wrong?

Hello Ana,

The "host unknown" message indicates that the phone was not able to resolve the hostname portion of the IP phone service URL. If you entered it as a name ie:

http://CCMPUB1/example1.htm

Then the phone is not able to resolve CCMPUB1 into an IP Address. You can do one of 2 things to correct this. First, you can change the URL into an IP address like:

http://192.168.1.1/example1.htm

Or, you can configure your DHCP server to hand out a DNS server IP Address as part of the lease, and have that DNS server able to resolve the name CCMPUB1 into an IP Address.
