Can't 'write mem' after adding 3rd 3750E switch

Folks,

After I added the 3rd 3750E to my stack on Sunday I can no longer save my configs with 'copy run start' or 'write mem':

#copy running-config startup-config

Destination filename [startup-config]?

Building configuration...

nv_done: unable to open "flash:/config.text.new"

nv_done: unable to open "flash:/private-config.text.new"

nv_done: unable to open "flash:/multiple-fs.new"[OK]

Switch Ports Model SW Version SW Image

------ ----- ----- ---------- ----------

* 1 54 WS-C3750E-48TD 12.2(40)SE C3750E-UNIVERSALK9-M

2 54 WS-C3750E-48TD 12.2(40)SE C3750E-UNIVERSALK9-M

3 54 WS-C3750E-48TD 12.2(40)SE C3750E-UNIVERSALK9-M

my flash seems to have plenty of space:

57409536 bytes total (24203776 bytes free)

Has anyone seen this?

Ben

I get exactly the same issue, did you manage to fix in the end?

P.

Sounds like CSCsq24610

CSCsq24610 Bug Details

write memory error after power-off new member in auto-upgrading
symptom :
If power-off new added member in auto-upgrading on stack-wised 3750,
we could not "write memory"

e.g.>
#write memory
Building configuration...

nv_done: unable to open "flash:/config.text.new"
nv_done: unable to open "flash:/private-config.text.new"
nv_done: unable to open "flash:/multiple-fs.new"[OK]

condition :
because new adding member has other IOS ver,
When auto-upgrading has occured on stack-wised 3750.

workaround :
power-cycle master

if you have not started to use the switch that you have added and are able to release it from the stack it might be a good idea to do that and start it up single and run the fsch command (found in boot loader mode in 12.2.40 I think)

and also test the stack without the "offender" that the stack actualy works when the latest switch in it is removed.

good luck

Hi mrbenconrad,

What version of IOS are you runnning?

Here is a bug I have dealt with before:

CSCsc41813

#

A switch running Cisco IOS Release 12.2(25)SED might reload or display  error messages when the user attempts to access the flash filesystem.   This might occur when using the dir or copy commands on the flash filesystem, or changing boot configurations, such as boot system filename

#

To avoid this problem, you can upgrade the switch software
