Hi,i want to upgrade my IDS 4235 from the current version which is Version 4.0(2) to version 6.x, is it possible to step direct to version 6 or i have to go with version 5 first?!

You need to upgrade to 5.0(1e) first, after that you can go apply service pack 6.0(4) directly.

He can jump from 4.x to 6.0 in one step on the 4235. All he has to do is burn a CD from the 6.0(4) ISO and boot his 4235 with it in the drive.

True but that would be a re-image (loosing the config), not an upgrade.
