We had a WS-SUP32-GE-3B that failed. I consoled in and got the 'rommon 1>' prompt. I rebooted the WS-C6509-E and it came right up. But when I do a 'sh log' I get the message "00:01:07: RP: Currently running ROMMON from S (Gold) region".
I opened up a service request and sent the 'sh tech' to Cisco customer support engineer and he stated that there is a hardware issue and is sending a replacement.
We want to purchase a second SUP to have a fail over in case this occurs again with the new SUP.
Can we have two SUPs in the same chassis and use the second SUP as a fail over?
