MPLS TE tunnel

Hi there, I am trying to set up a traffic-eng tunnel, but the tunnel protocol is down and the tunnel is not operational. Some show commands :

Rack1R4#show mpls traffic-eng tunnels

Name: Rack1R4_t0 (Tunnel0) Destination: 131.1.6.6

Status:

Admin: up Oper: down Path: not valid Signalling: Down

path option 1, type explicit TO_R6

path option 2, type dynamic

Config Parameters:

Bandwidth: 10000 kbps (Global) Priority: 7 7 Affinity: 0x0/0xFFFF

Metric Type: TE (default)

AutoRoute: enabled LockDown: disabled Loadshare: 10000 bw-based

auto-bw: disabled

History:

Tunnel:

Time since created: 45 minutes

Path Option 2:

Last Error: PCALC:: No path to destination, 131.1.6.6.

Path not valid. But the ip is pingable and mpls is working end to end. What might be the problem?

Hi

Can you ensure that

1) You have enabled "mpls traffic-eng tunnels" on all the interfaces along the path.

2) You have an "ip rsvp bandwidth " statement under all the interfaces along the path.

3) Depending on your IGP have you enabled traffic eng under the IGP config ie.

router ospf 1

mpls traffic-eng router-id loopback0

mpls traffic-eng area 0

Everything looks normal, the mpls traffic-eng tunnels is set throughout the whole path, the router ospf contains these commands and the show mpls traffic-eng topology shows all the links. But the signaling is still down! Any other ideas?

Hi

Okay, had a quick look in the lab.

Under your ospf config the router-id, are you using loopbacks and are you positive that all your routers have the right

mpls traffic-eng router-id loopbackx

statement in it. If one of these is incorrect along the path then you will still be able to ping your destination but the tunnel will not come up.
