We've experienced a strange issue with a Panasonic Toughbook laptop that I'm just wondering if anyone else has seen.
When connected to its docking station, powered on and booted into windows but without the user having actually launched any applications, it seems to have generated a huge amount of multicast traffic for no apparent reason.
It's enough to for the CPU load on the switch (a Catalyst 3524) to between 98 and 99%, causing it to be too busy to process other normal traffic.
It only occurs occasionally, with no apparent pattern, and only affects this particular toughbook. We have several others that have never experienced this problem.
I've implemented storm control for multicast traffic on the interface to try and control the impact.
Has anyone seen a similar issue, or have any idea what may cause this?
