Adding a member to a live 3750 switch stack

I have an existing 8 member 3750 stack all running the same IOS and all of the same type.

I wish to add a 9th member to the stack.

The 8 member stack has all 16 stack-wise ports connected.

Can I remove one of those stack-wise cables and connect that cable to this 9th 3750 that I have already provisioned.

Will removing just one stack-wise cable cause the existing 8 member stack to reload?

I know that I have to connect this 9th member to the stack before powering on this standalone but I am concerned that removing one of the stack-wise cables and connecting to this 9th member may cause the entire stack or part of the stack to reload.

The switch stack will stay in contact even when you remove one of the stack-wise cable. So you should be able to remove the cable connecting your 8th switch(stackport#1) to your 1st switch(stackport#2), and connect it to your 9th switch(stackport#2). Then connect your 9th switch(stackport#1) to your 1st switch(stackport#2)...then power up your switch and be just fine.
