hi gautam,

if i understand your question correctly. there might be drops of packets

on the path the packet travels

so make sure the path the packets travels

does not have congestion

rgds/shiva

also i have checked in the same network segment, I m pinging to firewall connected direcly to switch, its getting drop more than 500 datagram size. My switch is 3750

your question is very specific

pls specify

where the source you originate the ping ?

destination ?

any intermediate devices in the path ?

how u say 500 datagrams ?

is it size of packet used in ping ?

rgds/shiva

Hi,

If your are pingen to and public network, DSL, Frame Relay. Check the mtu size of your outside network.

Regards

J.

I am not pinging public network i m pinging in same private segment. switch to firewall, which is directly connected.

I am pinging from my network switch to Nokia firewall which is directly connected. there is no imtermediate device. source is my switch and destination is my firewall, I am setting datagram size 500 ( default is 100), yes.
