3550 switches - sulphur smell

In our comms rm there is a sulphur smell that comes and goes. We are trying to pin point where it is coming from and all UPS', air con, etc have been checked. The only equipment we have in the comms rm is Cisco 3550 switches - do you know if these contain any type of batteries that might give off a smell?

thanks

Paul:

From my experience as an electronics technician for 6 years, the smell of sulphur usually results from electronic components breaking down (getting fried), power supplies in particular. Batteries can give you that smell, too.

Thanks for you reply. Is it likely that a switch would cause this - the smell comes and goes.

stop feeding it eggs :)

Hi Paul

I had something like this a couple of weeks ago and eventually tracked the culprit down to something in one of the florescent light fittings breaking down.

Just something to think about.

Best Regards,

Michael
