Is the switch set to transparent mode?

vtp mode transparent

HTH

No .. As server mode

You can configure normal-range VLANs (2 through 1000) when the switch is in either VTP server or transparent mode. However, you can only configure extended-range VLANs (1025 through 4094) in VTP transparent switches.

HTH

But mode is Server ... :(

Doesn't matter. Extended vlans are only supported in transparent mode.

HTH

I am trying to add VLAN "2"

Sorry my fault, I thought you were adding vlan 1003. Here's a link that describes the problem and the resolution. Let us know if that fixes it.

Thanks HTH.. I was able to solve this problem,...

I deleate vlan.dat on both 3550 and 3560 ... works ok ....

But I have another issue ...

check this output

It appears you currently have both switches configured as VTP Servers, change one of then to be a client. Also verify your VTP domain/password are the same on both devices

Hi,

Can u just try to create a dummy vlan and see.

Thanks

Mahmood

Dose not make any difference if I make I one server and other client (yes.. I was not able to create any VLAN in Client mode)....

Domian name is correct too... bc if change VTP domain name I am getting this error... Also there is no authentication....

00:03:34: %DTP-5-DOMAINMISMATCH: Unable to perform trunk negotiation on port Fa0

/11 because of VTP domain mismatch.

Hi,

I try to the same thing but I am getting this same error (Add o Remove Vlans).

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/tech/tk389/tk689/technologies_configuration_example09186a008009478e.shtml#vlan1003

This document say that possible cause are:

VTP version mismatch, but this switch are configured VTP version 2 and VTP Mode Transparent.

Because the VTP mode is Transparent the VLAN information is store on Startup-config and Vlan.dat, I erase the flash:vlan.dat and reload the switch.

Later when the switch are online, I was able to create and delete Vlans.
