Hi,
I have a small problem to get the redundancy to work between two ACE modules. The configuration is very basic, just to get the redundancy to work.
ACE1
ft interface vlan 10
ip add 10.0.0.1 255.255.255.0
peer ip address 10.0.0.2 255.255.255.0
no shut
!
ft peer 1
ft-interface vlan 10
!
ft group 1
associate-context Admin
peer 1
peer priority 150
priority 200
inservice
ACE 2
ft interface vlan 10
ip add 10.0.0.2 255.255.255.0
peer ip address 10.0.0.1 255.255.255.0
no shut
!
ft peer 1
ft-interface vlan 10
!
ft group 1
associate-context Admin
peer 1
peer priority 200
priority 150
inservice
!
This is all configuration that is done on the ACE modules, on the 6500 we have associated the vlans with the ace:
svclc vlan-group 10 10
svclc module 1 vlan-group 10
!
Thats it, i can see that both the ACE modules send heartbeats but they are not receiving any. The link is a L2 between the 6500s and the vlan are allowed on the trunk between them. Also get that the standby module powers down then it is configured like this. We are using Version 3.0(0)A1(4a) on both modules and no difference in the licence file, it is the basic on both of them. This is what the logg in the router:
Mar 18 15:17:37: %SNMP-5-MODULETRAP: Module 1 [Down] Trap
Mar 18 15:17:37: SP: The PC in slot 1 is shutting down. Please wait ...
Mar 18 15:17:47: SP: PC shutdown completed for module 1
Mar 18 15:17:47: %C6KPWR-SP-4-DISABLED: power to module in slot 1 set off (Reset
)
Mar 18 15:18:19: Processor 0 of module in slot 1 cannot service session requests
Would appreciate some help or ideas.
Best regards
/Daniel

Daniel,
the ACE module seems to hang and the Sup detecting the problem does a RESET.
You want to configure at least a normal vlan interface to verify you ping the ACE module fom the msfc for example.
Then, upgrade to A1(6.3a) which is the recommended software nowadays.
After that, you can attempt to configure FT keeping your msfc-ace vlan.

what the recommendation for the 2.0 code, is it stable enough for production? or should I stick with 6.3a?
