Hi,
IOS 12.4 under router rip:
"offset-list Add or subtract offset from rip metric".
Then when I type 'offset-list 1 out ?'
I get the following <0-16> Offset.
So ..... How can you subtract from the metric using 0-16 ? Also what would be the purpose of adding or subtracting 0 ???.
Is this s/w just a bit buggy or am I missing something ?
Regards,
Phil.

So I am assuming the word 'subtract' is erronous in the IOS ???
Yes. The online help is useful for additional command options. Never trust what the explanation says, consult the documentation.

Can you provide a link?
Per http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/ios/12_3/iproute/command/reference/ip2_o1g.html#wp1036466
"The offset value is added to the routing metric."

Hi Edison,
Just use the '?' under router rip and you will see 'Offset-list Add or subtract offset from RIP metrics' as one of the options. If you type 'offset-list 1 in ?' at this point the IOS offers '<0-16> Offset'.
I cannot see the point in offering 0 as an option nor can I see the ability to use -ve integers. So I am assuming the word 'subtract' is erronous in the IOS ???
