Max size PCMCIA flash card for 3662 router?

Unanswered Question

Just bought three 3662 routers with 128M Ram and 32M Flash to add to my CCNP lab. There is two PCMCIA slots (flash cards). What is the max PCMAIA (Flash cards) available? Looking to see if there's 64Meg+ cards available so I can store larger IOS's greater than my 32M internal flash. Also do the 3662 use what is called linear flash?

Thanks Chris

I have this problem too.

Hi chris

The maximum size of 3600 flash card is 20M. See:

There are two slots so you can install 40M maximum for each of your router. But please notice that you cannot span your ios image to the spaerate flash cards if the size of the image is greater than 20M. So, installing the flash card is not an option to load an image that is greater than 32M.

However, there is another option you can use. There are two simm slots inside the router and each can support 32M simm flash. See:

That makes you be able to install a total amount of 64M system flash and load an image that is greater than 32M. You need to open the router case anyway. See how to upgrade the system flash:
