The current test is now 640-802. The INTRO and ICND books have been replaced with ICND1 and ICND2 books. You'll probably be able to use the books but changes have been made to the current test, so you might be wasting your time with certain subjects. I would suggest buying the new CCNA library, I think it's only $35 on But keep the Network'll definitely be able to use that to study. The current CCNA library doesn't come with a Network Simulator anymore.

The Cisco ICND1 and ICND2 books are what I'm using (2nd edition), I highly recommend them!

Ciscopress (probably on also) have the CCNA cert library which is just the ICND 1 and 2 books together (cheaper as a package). Video Mentor is pretty good, no bells and whistles, but quality instruction.

If you have access to IOS images, a decent CPU, and plenty RAM, checkout Dynamips, its better than a router sim. Here's a couple links on how to set it up and where to get it:

You can use the 640-801 books as even they provide the same knowledge that 640-802 books do. But take care where the topics are different. Like ISDN for 801 is no more covered. 802 has additional topics like IPv6, VPN. etc.

See the difference in the two exams and you will probably come to know what the 640-801 books lack.
