Firewall Placement Advice

Unanswered Question

Greetings im in the process of implementing a voice network for a customer, they will be running Call Manager providing services to several remote site as well as the HO. SIP will be used for inbound and outbound calls.

Im looking at putting a Cisco ASA 5510 and 2800 ISR at the HO.

Im trying to figure out the best way to use these two devices effectively. My two main concerns are where to terminate VPNs, Where to terminate the SIP trunks and which device to use as a focus for security.

My biggest problem arises trying to figure out where to terminate vpn connections as there may be a requirement for DMVPN which the ASA doesnt support which might require the firewall being on the network edge and the router behind the firewall terminating the SIP trunks and DMVPN connections whilst the firewall provides IP Inspection.

Any help would be much appreciated.

I have this problem too.
