Hi Experts,

I've a question about like:

Does ACE can load balance real servers located in diffirent subnet & vlan?

I'm facing an situation as real servers hosted in two DC.

Please advice me.

Thanks in advance.

Hi,

Yes - you will need a small VLAN on the serverside to do the routing through the ACE. You need to ensure that the return traffic also passes through the ACE so that you don't have asymmetric routing. I had to use NAT to do this (Thanks to Gilles).

Hi Cathy,

That mean I'll need one more vlan for routing?

Please explain more detail.

Thanks & regards,

Quan

Quan,

it does not matter where the servers are located. They can be in a single vlan or in multiple vlans.

They can be in a vlan directly connected to the ACE module or in a vlan several hops away.

Gilles.

Thank you very much

in this scenario, where the reals are se veral hops away, how will FT behave?

will it be a seamless fail over?

should we consider additionla routes?

thanks

Manuel

Hi,

FT is between ACE modules so the rservers being several hops isn't relevant. As long as you have connectivity from the second ACE to the rservers there shouldn't be a problem if the first ACE fails.
