isdn status indicates SHUTDOWN - after issuing no shutdown

Unanswered Question
Mar 26th, 2008

Hardware is a 2811 router, IOS is (C2800NM-ADVIPSERVICESK9-M), Version 12.4(8a)

I find that sh isdn status indicates SHUTDOWN for Layer 1.

This is even after I issue a no shutdown on the interface.

I also find that sh controller indicates internal state DEACTIVATED

If the site has confirmed that they are connected to the ISDN and the green led on NT1 is illuminated. What else might I do here?

TIA

Can you send "show diag" ? Seems to me you've got a wic-1b-u but trying to connect via NT1.

Indeed you have a wic-1b-u, that card connects to the U bus, that is the two wires directly from CO.

To connect to the s/t bus out of an NT1, you use WIC-1B-ST.

Hope this helps, please rate post if it does!

Actually I will admit about the only thing I understand there are a couple of words like Indeed or connect.

I don't have direct access to this as its at a client site that I have never been to nor has the ISDN ever worked there in the year since it was installed. But this same equipment is at several other sites and they are working, when needed.

A new circuit was brought in and the other end extended it from the dmarc in the basement and supposedly connected it to the ISDN port. They report the led is green and the telco (ATT) reports that the ISDN itself seems fine, although they can not see the CPE.

anyway, thanks for your time

Hi, an NT1 is the box that sometime also has ports for analog phones and the green light.

This box in no case you can connect to the specific board you've in the router due the incompatible electrical standards.

If you want to connect to that box you need a wic-1b-s/t-v3 card in the router.

If you are allowed to not use the box to connect, you connect the card you got directly to the wires that are now going into the NT1 eliminating it to all effects.

Any telecom technician should be able to help in that.

Hope this helps, please rate post if it does!
