DS0-Group _ Channel Group

Unanswered Question

For a data T1 (to connect to a providers frame network) can either the DS0-group or Channel Group command be used under the contoller?

We're bringing in a new router for a customer. The provider today brings in a T1 and drops it off on a external CSU/DSU then into the existing router. There are four locations on the frame-network and each is designated 4 timeslots inside the CSU/DSU. For a specific reason, the customer needs to continue this behavior in the new router. But after attempting to configure I'm running up to the problem that a maximum of 2 channel-groups can be created under controlle t1 1/0. I need four groups (eac with 4 timeslots) The DS0-Group command will allow up to 24 groups, but that grabs DSP resources.

If the DS0-group command will work for strictly data T1, we could just add some more DSPs, and it should allow us to add additional DS0-Groups?

Any advise would be apprecaited.

I have this problem too.

ds0-group doesn't work for data applications. Which exact platform is that? (show diag).

VWIC on the ISR chassis have a limitation of two channel-groups as you noted, and documented:

The ISR routers are not mentioned above but they have the same limitations of the older ones.

If you need more than that, you can get either nm-xce1t1-pri where x = 1 or 2 ports, or the new hwic modules, hwic-xce1t1-pri also available with 1 o 2 ports:

All these supports up to 31 (E1) or 24 (T1) channel-groups per port:

Hope this helps, please rate post if it does!
