CME 3.2 and Conf / Call Bridge

I have CME 3.2, on a 2821 running ver 12.4. I have both 7940G and 7936 phones and need to somehow create the ability for a conference/call bridge where users (all using voip) can dial in, no more than 48 total. They all go through the same 2821 router. Someone told me that I would have to get at least Unity Express AIM ver 3.1 to accomplish this. Can anyone assist?

Hi, higly recommend you upgrade to 4.1 w/ IOS 12.4(11)XJ4.

That will give you the ability of creating multiparty conferences or bridges so to say, that are based on DSP hardware. Before that IOS/CME, a dual-port T1/E1 with a cross connection is required, that is a cumbersome solution.

Hope this helps, please rate post if it does!

So instead of getting Unity Express AIM 3.1, just upgrade CME to 4.1 and my IOS to 12.4(11)XJ4 will allow me to do a true conf bridge where people can dial in and not have to be added in by calling each individual?

Yes, and you can have fancy functions like list who's in the call, play nice sounds when they join in, etc.

Only missing thing to a professional service is a pin-driven front-end to the bridges but someday that I'm in the mood I shall write some TCL/IVR script for that. I will also have the name recorded and announce at join time, thing that I find a little annoying but hey that makes people sound important.

Hi Glenn,

Just to add a note to the good info from Paolo. Here is the config info for CME;

SCCP: Configuring Multi-Party Ad Hoc and Meet-Me Conferencing in Cisco Unified CME 4.1 and Later Versions

To configure multi-party ad hoc conference support for 3-8 parties plus Meet-Me conferencing for up to 32 parties;

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/voice_ip_comm/cucme/admin/configuration/guide/cmeconf.html#wp1020601

Hope this helps!
