Can anyone explain what's going on with the switch when it displays this message for any given command entered:

switch#conf t

Hey there. It looks like you do not have the appropriate privilige to execute the command(s). You can configure a router to allow specific username/passwords to have access to only certain commands. For example, you may allow a low-level techie access to privilige mode, but not to configuration mode to prevent them from making configuration mistakes.

Thanks Darren, I figured out the problem right after I posted this question and you're right. Our tacacs server was having issues earlier so I had to login via the local credentials. While in the device the tacacs server was rebooted and came up fine. This kept me from running the commands I needed. Once I logged out and back in with my tacacs credentials I was good.
