FWSM Being Power-Cycled by 6513 Nightly - Why???

Hi all,

Strange problem: Since last weekend I've noticed that the FWSM in our 6513 core switch is being power-cycled on an almost nightly basis at exactly the same time each time it happens (12:15am).

The syslog message I receive first off is "Mar 28 00:17:16 <dev_IP> 15610: Mar 28 00:15:29: %OIR-SP-3-PWRCYCLE: Card in module 5, is being power-cycled off (Module not responding to Keep Alive polling)". I can't find anything in logs that looks helpful, nor on the internet.

The only major change I've made to the device recently was to add AAA configuration - which works as it seems it should in terms of login, etc. The FWSM image is ver 2.3(2) and the 6513 IOS ver is 12.2(18)SXD6.

Please note: Despite the subject of this post the problem does NOT occur EVERY night. It happened twice on the weekend, and on the last two nights - each incident occurring at 12:15am.

Any help on what to look for is greatly appreciated.

Cheers,

Ben.

This message indicates that the module experiences a port Application-Specific Integrated Circuit (ASIC) error.

To resolve this problem, upgrade Cisco IOS Software to Release 12.2(17d)SXB11 or later. Try this bug CSCej52641 also.
