I have severl trusted senders that just flood my IPs (legit emails) and while the IPs handle them just fine the backend servers are choking. Strange request I know but anyone intentionally slow down their IPs? What settings?

We do this with Destination Controls (from Mail Policies). One server we limit to 2 concurrent connections and another is limited to 8.

If you want to slow down the mail to your backends only when the mail comes from a certain ip address, you should look at the virtual gateway interfaces, the altsrchost command in addition to the destconfig command. destconfig will slow all traffic to the domain down; however, by using the virtual gateway and altsrchost, you could slow domain mail that comes from a specific ip or domain.
