I have 2 WAAS appliances on opposite ends of a DS3. When the circuit is only showing 50% utilization (send and receive), I am seeing tens of thousands of Transmit discards. The only traffic on the wire is between the WAAS devices. Do I need to implement some traffic shaping? I didn't think I would need it with the WAAS managing flows.
Where are you seeing the discards? On the DS3 interfaces?
In general, WAAS isn't a replacement for QoS. In fact, due to the ability of TFO to more fully leverage the available WAN bandwidth, it may amplify the need for QoS.
