choosing between SND exam and wireless Exam

Unanswered Question
Mar 31st, 2008

In order to pursue my career in networking, i am hesitating between the SND exam and Cisco Advanced wireless LAN Field exam.

The SND exam, 642-552, counts towards CCSP and Cisco information security specialist while the Cisco Advanced wireless LAN Field (642-587) awards a specialization in wireless LAN.

Please any advice is expected from you in order to choose the good track. I 'll appreciate tips concerning careers and job opportunities. Also books titles for the two exams will be deeply appreciated. Experience from candidates who have already sat in for those exam will be valuable.

Wishing you the best !

I have this problem too.

I recently sat SND and am curently studying for AWLANFE. I think you'll find SND the easier of the two.

As to which you choose if your heading for CCSP then SND is the obvious choice.

Wireless traffic is often segmented and handled diferently to wired traffic due to the inherent insecurity of the medium. VLANs, Radius, ACL's, PKI, ACS, AAA, Encryption Algorithyms and 802.1X can all play a part in securing a Wireless LAN. Most of these are covered to some degree in the CCSP track.

Hope this helps
