Hi,

how do I check the current memory of router?

sh memory

Head Total(b) Used(b) Free(b) Lowest(b) Largest(b)

Processor 64478360 146307940 30070236 116237704 82825472 112753508

I/O E000000 33554432 3659264 29895168 29860880 29887580

Transient 6D000000 16777216 17864 16759352 16759352 16746312

regarding above output,

total memory is 146M

used memory is 30M

free memory is 116M

what does it mean "lowest" and "largest"?

there are 256M memory in the router, why 110M memory disappear? what is going wrong?

"there are 256M memory in the router, why 110M memory disappear? what is going wrong?"

The missing 110M is likely both from I/O and IOS usage.

E.g. (2811 with 256M)

Cisco 2811 (revision 53.51) with 249856K/12288K bytes of memory.

(249,856K + 12,288K = 262,144K)

Compress images vary in actual size reduction but 2 x is usually close. So the above image would likely needs about 75 to 80 M.

wan01#sh mem st (only totals shown)

Total(b)

174547040

12582912

262144000-

about 75M - which is expected for the running IOS image
