Quick ASA Throughput Question

My concern is that our current PIX 525 is hitting CPU utilization rates of 70%. While the unit has a rated throughput of 330 Mbps, we have a CIR of 55 Mbps.

Does the ASA works similarly, this would give us a real-world throughput of 75 Mbps.

Will I get a better througput on the ASA?

We need to take in to consideration about NAT, ACL processing which will have slow throughput on the ASA.

Please advise.

Without knowing your traffics pattern,

it is hard to say.

However, Pix 525 has an Intel P-III 600Mhz

processor with 256MB RAM. That is really

"old" technology.

I would imagine ASA5510 has much faster CPU

and probably 1GB RAM so I would say you will

get better performance than Pix525
