I have a cme connected to a PBX over a wan using voip. Works fine if dial-peer voice xxx voip used codec g729 by default. If I code g711ulaw, I get fast busy. Trying to understand why this would be so. The sip peer for vm cue has codec g711ulaw no problem. If I remove the codec g711ulaw from the voip peer it works again. thoughts and thanks

That is the remote PBX that wants G.729 only.
What problems does it cause to you ?

not following your answer. PBX is connected via t1. TDM at that point. What does g711 or g729 got to do with it?

Ok, then you need g711u on the DPs on both systems doing VoIP. You mentioned one only.
