Cisco2811 and 50Mb throughput on WAN

I have a customer that has Cisco2811. They currently are using a 10Mb WAN connection. They need to increase that to 50Mb. Can this router support that bandwidth?

If the router has a FastEthernet or Gigabit ethernet card, then yes.

FastE is 100Mb and GigE is 1,000 Mb

yes the router has the HWIC. My concern was backplane. I heard that the 2811 might only support up to 20mb throughput.

50 Mbps of substained throughput is alot, and I believe too much, for a 2811.

The limitation isn't the backplane, but the performance of the CPU.

Worked with a customer who wanted to know whether a 2811 could drive a fractional DS-3. Did some crude peformance testing, was able to blast about 40 Mbps through a 2811. This drove the cpu to 100%. (Test traffic was unidirectional.)

Did place it in service with the DS-3. Most of the time, works very well as long as substained traffic is 15 Mbps or less, duplex.
