3560 - Intel Pro 1000 MT NIC connection problems

Hi all,

our customer told me about his poor tranfer rate if he connect his Intel Pro 1000 MT NIC with latest driver software to a WS-C3560G-48TS (12.2(44)SE) at 1Gbps. The connection endpoints were set to auto. Allegedly the Intel Pro does not allow to hardcoded the speed/duplex to 1000 Full. If the speed was hardcoded to 100 Mbps at swtich side, than the transfer rate is OK. Does anyone notice this behaviour?

Do you have QoS enabled? I have some Dual Port Intel Pro/1000 MT NIC's in some servers and don't see any issues. You are correct that 1000/Full isn't an option with the drivers as this must be negotiated, however left at auto it will negotiate 1000/Full. This is due to the different behaviour of 1000BaseT over 10/100 Ethernet.

If you have QoS enabled it may be down to bug CSCsc96037. This can be resolved by changing the default queue-set threshold values.

Hi Andy,

many thanks for your posted answer and helpful links.

QoS is not enabled at the moment. I am pleased to hear that the Intel Pro/1000 MT NICs works in general.
