I have a RSM WS-X5302 in a Cat. 5500 switch. The RSM is running IOS ver 11.2(13)P for about a year now, the RSM have being intermittent relaods it self. and the error is : %C5IP-0-MSG: slot0 %DB-0-FATAL error. (code=34)
To resolved the problem, Cisco said that release 11.3(11)WA4(14a) will resloved the problem.
I have downloaded IOS ver 12.1,
My question is, can I upgrade the IOS to ver 12.1 instead of 11.3(11) ?.

I have upgraded regular routers but not an RSM

The problem is that, this is a production and the only RSM.
This is a carrier ending task if thing did not work right.
