Solved: "Universal" Voice IOS

Gents,

I've got 2821 router running 12.4(9)T C2800NM-ADVIPSERVICESK9-M.

Wish it could support H.323, MGCP, SRST, CUCME, CUUE & GK based on single IOS.

Q:

1. Is this possible ?

- If no, what subsets of these Great-SIX can coexist ? Based on what IOSes ?

- If yes, what the IOS is ?

If there isn't possibility to answer unambiguously, please, explain the best methods

of determining such a combos ? Would it be only Feature Navigator ? Anything else ?

Hi,

yes, in the past GK was incorporated in different images than now in 12.4.

I didn't remembered that GK is yet a different image from ip-to-ip gw, as you noticed.

Hi, GK requires ip-to-ip gw images, that is the filenames that ends in _isv. All the rest is in all voice images.

But does your answer mean, that if I upgrade to _isv image (by the way,

how is this de-abbreviated ?) I will have all abovementioned functionalities

including gatekeeper ?

Can you also recommend up-to-date IOS_isv version ?

And something else. Please advice what for _isv IOS is needed else along with gk ?

It really depends on which features you want. If not the very latest, 12.4(3j) is considered stable. I don't know what _ivs means, but I think you need that for GK.

I've been looking through IOSes feature sets and noticed

there are to different sets:

{

INT VOICE/VIDEO, IPIP GW, TDMIP GW

&

INT VOICE/VIDEO GK, IPIP GW, TDMIP GW

}

Even do not want to interpret these, but it seems that GK

MUST BE BASED on ip2ip images. Let it be.

On the other hand, I worked in organazation several years ago

that had implemented its GK on c2600-ix-mz.123-1a image. You

might not beleive, but it's has been working since that days :)

What do you think all about these, Paolo ?
