We have an 7835-H2 running Unity 4.2.1 (Windows 2000) that we want to upgrade to Unity 5.0.1 (Windows 2003). The Exchange 2003 server is on a seperate box. I would like to avoid an in-place upgrade of 2000 to 2003.

This was the procedure we are considering:

Do a full backups of the current server.

Do a DiRT export of Unity 4.2.1.

Install Windows 2003 (not an in place upgrade).

Install Unity 4.2.1

Do a DiRT import.

Upgrade Unity 4.2.1 to 5.0.1

Has anyone done a similar process? Pitfalls?

That is the process. I would avoid Cobras because it is unsupported from TAC. So if it bombs, you are hosed. I used it for CallHandlers the other day and worked perfect! Although for subscribers, it was unclear about the subscribers PIN. It looks like it gets reset with the process.

Upgrade 2000 to 2003=bad. Stick with fresh installs if possible.
